Summary
Chatham County Schools’ board voted Aug. 11 to approve the district’s 2025–26 consolidated federal grants application (Title I, II, III, IV, and Title I Part C migrant), with a planning budget around $2.5 million and a modest $116,000 reduction from last year.
The Chatham County Board of Education voted Aug. 11 to approve the district’s 2025–26 consolidated federal grants application, authorizing federal Title I, II, III and IV funds and related set‑asides.
Chris Pitts, interim assistant superintendent for academic services, and Ms. Little, executive director for Title I and multilingual education, reviewed the consolidated plan and explained district priorities. The package includes Title I set‑asides for pre‑K, homeless student supports, class-size reduction positions, interventionists and AVID materials; Title II funds will support teacher- and principal-training through a train‑the‑trainer model; Title III supports English‑learner staffing and family engagement; and Title IV funds student-enrichment and mental-health supports.
Pitts and Little told the board they expect roughly $2.5 million in federal planning funds for the year, noting a decrease of about $116,000 from the previous year — largely attributable to a reduction in Title I Part A funding. The board approved the application by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
District staff said final allotments for some line items remain contingent on state education department allocations and October headcounts for certain grants.
