Board approves targeted improvement plans for two campuses after presentations on teacher coaching and data‑driven instruction

Campus principals described concrete measures including teacher data talks, electronic data walls, targeted after‑school tutorials (branded on some campuses as "Star Carnival" and "March Mathness"), and incentives linked to student growth goals. "We did, I believe it was somewhere in the ballpark of 20 classroom walks... and from that, we met to debrief and that's where we chose our targeted area, which is observational feedback and data driven instruction," one principal said.
Board member Mr. Stasney moved approval of the targeted improvement plan for Stephen F. Austin Middle School "as presented." Miss Benford seconded the motion; the board voted and the motion passed unanimously on voice vote (the transcript reports unanimity but does not record individual roll calls). The board later approved a similar plan for Sudbury Intermediate after a campus presentation by its principal describing teacher rotations for tutorials, expanded administrative walks, and data‑informed PLCs.
Presenters said the plans are intended to be systemic and to support all intermediate and middle campuses, not only those identified for comprehensive support, so that administrators and teachers across the district use aligned processes and monitoring. District staff said a LASSO grant application had been submitted to support the work and that Region 6 would continue to provide coaching and monitoring visits. Board members praised campus leaders' work and emphasized the district's commitment to data‑driven improvement.
