Burrillville School Committee elects Sarah Lacey chair; vice chair decided by 4–3 ballot

Sarah Lacey was formally recognized as the new chair of the Burrillville School Committee after a reorganization nomination and vote at the Dec. 10 meeting in Harrisville. The meeting opened with a swearing-in for three returning members, then moved immediately into leadership elections.
The vice-chair race used a closed paper ballot after nominations. Committee members nominated Joe Kalipari and Don(erson) Allen; the tally reported 4 votes for Jill Kalipari and 3 for Donerson (Don) Allen, and Jill Kalipari was declared vice chair. Dave Landry was nominated for clerk, seconded, and approved by voice vote.
The committee conducted the reorganization by motion and voice votes, and the chair turned the meeting over to Lacey after her election. The meeting followed customary procedures for nominations, seconds, and the closed ballot where requested.
Committee members briefly expressed thanks to outgoing leaders and extended holiday wishes to staff and families. The reorganizational votes concluded before the meeting moved on to routine business.
