"Last year, we've done 585 hauls. So you're looking at a roughly $73,000 more," Monty said, and later outlined scenarios with annual increases in the range of $125,000 to $263,000 depending on container sizes and haul frequency.
Committee members expressed concern about budget timing (the increase begins mid fiscal year) and asked the treasurer to identify reserve or reallocation options. Committee members also reported operational issues with the vendor in recent years and urged staff to resolve outstanding performance items before committing to a long renewal; staff were authorized to pause a final decision, pursue additional pricing or rebidding, and follow up at the next meeting once the treasurer and procurement staff complete a review.
No final contract vote was taken; staff will return with a recommendation and costed options at the next meeting.
