The St. Helens School District board adopted its 2025–26 budget and related fiscal resolutions at the June 25, 2025 meeting, approving total appropriations of $71,663,276 and imposing property taxes for the 2025–26 tax year.
During the meeting the board adopted a resolution appointing Christine Lillard as the district’s budget officer effective June 25, 2025. The board also approved a resolution that, as read into the record, adopted a budget with total appropriations and reserves across funds totaling $71,663,276 and listed general fund and special-fund allocations and contingency amounts. “This budget is now on file for district’s administrative office,” a presenter stated when reading the adopted figures.
The business office had recommended a supplemental budget to address unforeseen expenses in the current fiscal year by moving $200,000 in contingency into support services and $100,000 from transfers to instruction. The board adopted that supplemental budget by motion. As the business-office presenter explained earlier, “we can move that $200,000 in contingency into support services” to help meet the district’s 2024–25 obligations; the supplemental budget motion passed by voice vote.
Board members also approved several administrative resolutions: designation of Corinne Barretas Brown as chief administrative officer/school district clerk and (effective July 1, 2025) budget officer for administrative purposes, revision of authorized signers for the district, and declarations of surplus for two properties (an R&R house at 835 Madison Street) and a high-school pool table, each listed as subject to public sale. These resolutions were presented together and approved by motion and voice votes.
Votes at the meeting were conducted by voice; motions to adopt the agenda amendment, appoint the budget officer, adopt the budget and supplemental budget, and approve the listed administrative resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by the board during the meeting.
The board announced that the adopted budget and related documents are on file at the district administrative office at the address read into the record. The board also set upcoming organizational work including an organizational meeting on July 16 and a board retreat in August.
The meeting closed after the board completed the action items and announced logistics for the July organizational session.
