Pleasantville Police announce return of school resource officer program; Officer Barris named

Captain Angelo Maldonado of the Pleasantville Police Department told the board the department will restore a school resource officer presence in district schools this year. "The position of school resource officer will once again return to the Pleasantville School District," Maldonado said, and announced Officer Barris as the assigned SRO.
Maldonado said the department is committed to working with district leadership, staff and families "to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment" and emphasized that the SRO role is intended to build relationships and trust as well as enhance safety. Maldonado invited community members to speak with him after the meeting for questions.
The board thanked the department and welcomed the new resource officer.
