The Boyle County Fiscal Court voted Aug. 26 to authorize procurement and purchase orders to outfit eight new sheriff’s vehicles. Sheriff Fogg (speaker 16) presented an itemized estimate of outfitting costs and asked the court for a consensus to proceed.
"The estimated total per unit is gonna be $14,298.28," Sheriff Fogg said, adding that vendors typically take time to deliver equipment and that some existing components might be transferable while others will become surplus. He described additional costs for camera systems and labor and noted the county can pay vendors on standard net‑30 terms.
Magistrates discussed timing (vehicles expected in late November), possible use of drug forfeiture funds or other lines to offset costs, and the possibility of reusing some equipment. After questions about insurance and whether the sheriff’s office could pay part of the outfitting, the court approved moving forward with purchasing the equipment and opening POs.
The sheriff’s office and county purchasing staff will finalize vendor lists and prepare purchase orders; the court directed staff to track equipment transferability and surplus disposition for older equipment.
