The Boyle County Fiscal Court on Aug. 26 approved the second reading of Ordinance 920.28, a zoning text amendment permitting authorized agents (for example, architects) to present cases before the planning commission when the property owner gives permission.
County Attorney Herron described the change as procedural: it allows an owner’s representative to appear and argue cases at planning commission hearings rather than requiring the owner to be present. ‘‘Because, I mean, the architect is gonna know it best,’’ Attorney Herron said in explanation.
Magistrates asked clarifying questions about whether the change would supplant the need for counsel; the attorney and staff said it was intended to ease hearings, not replace legal representation. The second reading passed by voice vote after a motion was made and seconded.
Staff will implement the updated hearing procedures and notify the planning commission of the revised text.
