Bound Brook board approves blocks of resolutions, tables one item and addresses custodial contract

At its June 25 meeting the Bound Brook Board of Education approved multiple blocks of routine business and addressed several operational procurement items.

The board approved the minutes of May 21, 2025, and then voted to adopt personnel resolutions (items 7.2–7.73) and education resolutions (8.2–8.5). Roll calls were taken for each block; a small number of abstentions were recorded where members recused themselves for personal participation (for example, on travel or conference participation), but the resolutions otherwise passed.

During consideration of board action resolutions (section 9), a member raised concerns about item 9.7 and Miss High moved to table that single item; the motion to table (moved by Miss High, seconded by Mister Minhas) passed by roll call and item 9.7 was tabled.

Board discussion highlighted two procurement matters of note. For lease‑purchase financing (item 9.44) Webster Bank was identified as the low bidder at a 3.57 percent interest rate for a five‑year lease purchase financing proposal. For custodial services (item 9.48), administrators explained an unusual bidding outcome in which the three lowest bidders declined to accept the contract when offered. To avoid a service interruption on July 1, the district moved to award the contract to Pritchard Industries (the fourth‑lowest bidder), which confirmed it can perform and will assume staffing with some pay adjustments.

The board also accepted a $45,000 donation from the Bound Brook Alumni Association to renovate the athletic hall of fame near the gymnasium; renderings shown to the board were described as substantial.

What happens next: the district will finalize contract award paperwork to the selected custodial vendor and execute lease financing agreements consistent with board authorization.
