The Metuchen Board of Education publicly introduced seven recently hired staff members at its Sept. 9 meeting, welcoming the teachers who begin their assignments as the district enters the second week of the 2025–26 school year.
Superintendent Doctor Caputo opened the evening’s “showcase of successes,” explaining the district’s practice of introducing employees who were approved in prior board sessions. The new hires introduced themselves in alphabetical order and gave brief remarks about their backgrounds and assignments.
Among those introduced were Rhianna Anderson, a Campbell School leave replacement who said she will start in November and previously subbed across the district; Alicia Fernandez, a Metuchen native and former kindergarten teacher now returning to second grade at Campbell; Amy Fitzaris, joining Edgar School as the physical‑education and health teacher; Robin Gill, returning to Edgar as an ELA leave replacement; Deborah “Debbie” Lee, a fifth‑grade leave replacement at Edgar who described classroom work on community and inclusion; Rebecca Pareto, returning to teach fourth‑grade ELA in an integrated co‑teaching classroom at Campbell; and Julia Sadal, an Edgar special‑education/resource teacher for grades 5–8.
Caputo said she would circulate a short written report to the public the next day and noted that the start of the school year has shown strong early engagement from teachers and students. The introductions concluded with board members and the presiding officer welcoming the new staff to the district.
The meeting moved on without public comment.
