The Iowa County board voted to direct TK Elevator to prioritize repairs to the courthouse elevator and approved a set of routine administrative actions, the board said during its meeting.
The board’s most urgent vote came after Speaker 4 described a failed check valve in the elevator’s hydraulic power unit, leaving the courthouse without elevator service. Speaker 2 moved and Speaker 1 seconded a motion "to tell TK Elevator get on it asap," which passed by voice vote. Board members emphasized the need for a quick fix because the elevator outage affects ADA access in county facilities.
In other formal actions, the board set a public hearing for the Iowa County FY26 budget amendment No. 2 on October 24 at 10 a.m.; the motion to set the hearing was made by Speaker 1 and approved. The board also approved a quarterly transfer for secondary roads after Speaker 3 introduced the item and Speaker 1 moved to approve the transfer.
Appointments were confirmed during the meeting: the board approved Aaron Sanderson to the EasyCon/Easy Cog Loan Review Committee/board and appointed Jeff Sherman to Region 10 transportation/tax citizen roles and the Region 10 Trails Advisory Committee. Those appointments were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The meeting concluded with routine reports from county staff on vehicle and software updates and operational matters. No ordinance or long-term contract changes were adopted at this meeting; actions recorded were motions and appointments voted by the board.
The board’s next procedural step for the budget amendment is the public hearing scheduled for Oct. 24 at 10 a.m., and the elevator repair directive was authorized for immediate communication to TK Elevator.
