Parent tells East Bend board his disabled child’s needs went unmet

Adam Cruz, a parent and community member, told the East Bend School District Board that his disabled child’s needs were not met and that attempts to raise concerns with district staff went unanswered.
“I have a disabled child and do not trust anybody because you get led to believe that you're getting something you're not getting,” Cruz said during public comment. He said he raised concerns with “Mrs. Campbell” but received no response and ultimately removed his child from the district. “I wasn't given a choice, and it's sad,” he said.
Cruz framed his complaint as broader than his family, saying parents who raise concerns will not have needs met unless services are included in individualized education program (IEP) support: “If they're not in the SDIs, they're not gonna get met.” He said he planned to inform the community about his experience.
No board member or district official offered a response during the public-comment period. The meeting moved on to routine business after Cruz finished speaking.
