At its Sept. 11 meeting the Cumberland School Committee recorded the following formal actions:
• Agenda approved, motion by Miss Goldstein, seconded by Miss Feather; vote 7–0.
• Consent agenda approved (minutes of 08/28/2025, executive session listing, residency/attendance/enrollment reports, and bus inspection records); motion by Miss Goldstein, second by Miss Shea; vote 7–0.
• Report out of executive session: no votes were taken. The committee voted to seal the executive‑session minutes; motion by Miss Feather, second by Miss Smith; the seal motion passed 5–2 with Mr. Bacon and Mr. Dean recorded in the negative.
• Homeschool instruction request for the 2025–26 school year approved; motion by Miss Smith, second by Miss Feather; vote 7–0.
• The chair was authorized to enter superintendent contract negotiations subject to later ratification by the committee; motion approved 7–0.
• Transportation: committee approved Phase 2 of the Transpar Group transportation efficiency study (see separate article) 6–1.
• Fiscal business: the committee approved 11 resolutions reviewed in fiscal subcommittee (including an amended resolution to correct an invoicing error) and approved payment of bills totaling $955,188.38; motions carried 7–0.
• Adjournment: meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m.; motion by Miss Goldstein, second by Mr. Bakus.
