Board committee reviews revised IGA with MWRD for Red Line Extension, adjusting reimbursement and indemnification terms

Bill Mooney, chief infrastructure officer, presented a proposed revision to the IGA between CTA and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago for the Red Line Extension. Mooney said the original IGA authorized CTA to acquire fee property, permanent/temporary/recriprocal easements and provided for reimbursement to MWRD for mitigation of impacts. The revision narrows focus to two changes: (1) allow flexibility on the date and size of the initial reimbursement payment (MWRD may request a smaller initial payment at a later date), and (2) adjust reciprocal indemnification provisions in the permanent easements between CTA and MWRD. Mooney emphasized that indemnification changes require board approval; all other costs and obligations remain unchanged.
Directors had no substantive questions and the committee moved the revised IGA onto the omnibus for board approval.
