Board spotlights new hires, honors novice teacher and SSC employee

Cleveland City Schools recognized dozens of newly hired certified staff, honored novice teacher of the year Laura Stiltrotter and SSC GEM award recipient Stacy Litton, and featured a student-produced video from Ross Elementary.
The Cleveland City Schools Board recognized a large group of newly hired certified staff across the district and shared awards and spotlights.
Mr. Kaiser introduced new certified staff, naming new speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, classroom teachers, counselors and coaches who were invited to the front for photos and applause.
Dr. Elliott and the board also recognized Laura Stiltrotter as the district's novice teacher of the year, noting she was one of eight novice teachers in the state to receive the honor from TOS and the State Department of Education. The board again presented the award and took photographs.
Jamie Nance and SSC representatives presented the SSC GEM (Great Employees Make Magic) award to Stacy Litton; staff noted Stacy's long service to the district and that Jamie Nance will receive a national Impact SSC employee recognition in October.
Ross Elementary principal Dr. Stone and student presenters showed a short video that described their project-based learning, character-building 'rocket' missions, partnerships with Cleveland High School and other classroom activities.
Board members and administrators thanked staff, students and community partners for their contributions to the new school year.
