Clinton Police Department honored for completing statewide risk review

The Clinton City Council received a presentation from the North Carolina League of Municipalities recognizing the Clinton Police Department for completing a law-enforcement risk-management review.
Joe Graziano, the League’s senior public safety risk consultant, said the review examines more than 40 high-liability areas, including pursuits, use of force, employment practices and training, through policy review, on-site inspection and staff interviews. “The North Carolina League of Municipalities recognizes the Clinton Police Department for completing the law enforcement risk management review and proactively serving the community in a professional manner while taking steps to minimize risk to your citizens and officers,” Graziano said.
Graziano told the council that the League represents more than 400 police departments statewide, that roughly 200 agencies are in the process of completing a risk review, and that about 90 agencies have finished it. He commended the department for being “open, transparent, and receptive” during the process.
Mayor commented that the city values its long partnership with the League and thanked officers and their families for their service during a time of increasing risks and challenges. Police Chief (Keith) thanked the League for the recognition.
The presentation did not include an action item requiring council approval; council members applauded the department and the League’s work before proceeding to other agenda items.
