Sweetwater planning commission tables vote on zoning ordinance update to Oct. 28

The City of Sweetwater Planning and Zoning Commission voted on Sept. 30 to table action on a proposed update to the city's Zoning Land Use Ordinance and related zoning-district changes until Oct. 28.
Staff representative Vester told the commission that work on commission districts and related materials was ongoing and that another meeting of the working group was planned to review whether the proposed zoning districts meet the needs of residents and businesses. "Because of that ongoing work, because they are going to meet again 1 more time ' to really look ' and, see whether the proposed zoning districts are the ones that really miss the needs and the businesses of the of the residents and property owners," Vester said, recommending more time for review and potential amendment.
Following public comments from Kirk Harris and Galen Milton, a commissioner moved to table the vote until the Oct. 28 meeting at City Hall "so we have more time to review and take all the comments into consideration." The motion and a second carried by voice vote. The commission recorded the tabling as a procedural action; no final recommendation to the City Council was made that evening.
The item will return to the commission on Oct. 28 for further consideration after the working group completes its additional review.
