Community Action Napa Valley outlines food distribution in Saint Helena
Summary
A CANV board member reported that in July the agency distributed more than 230,000 pounds of food across Napa County and detailed local deliveries: 33 Meals-on-Wheels routes and several hundred individuals served through free markets and the emergency pantry in Saint Helena.
Dave Erickson, a member of the board of directors for Community Action Napa Valley (CANV), briefed the council on the agency—s food-distribution activity and local outreach plans.
Erickson said CANV operates the county food bank and runs more than nine pantries throughout Napa Valley. He told the council that in July CANV distributed more than 230,000 pounds of food countywide and that, specific to Saint Helena, the organization made 33 Meals-on-Wheels deliveries for vulnerable seniors and served 737 individuals through free markets and 667 through the emergency food pantry.
Erickson asked the council for opportunities to continue quarterly community updates and offered to meet with staff to discuss record-keeping and documentation used for beneficiaries. Mayor Doreen and councilmembers thanked him for the update and asked staff to coordinate a follow-up meeting if necessary.
