Council approves three public art projects funded from developer contributions

Planning staff presented three city‑initiated art proposals March 6 and the council approved Resolutions 12, 13 and 14 to install new artwork at Gardens District Park, the Burns Road Community Center and the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis & Pickleball Center.
Planner Ashi Anaswar introduced the artists: Benjamin (Ben) Heller’s mural 'Shadows of Victory' will wrap the pavilion facing playground and fields and is budgeted at $80,580; Matthew Plasick’s proposal 'Emerge' is a stainless‑steel and acrylic sculpture proposed for the Burns Road Community Center main entrance roundabout (transcript lists an estimated cost of $8,383,500) and is to be illuminated and landscaped; Daniel Shaughnessy IV’s 'Lotte' will be a 16‑foot marine‑grade stainless steel lotus‑petal sculpture with integrated LED lighting and a mist feature and carries an estimated cost of $429,940. Staff said the three projects total about $894,020 and are funded from the Art & Impact fund derived from developer contributions (remaining balance reported as $256,504.17).
The AIPP advisory board recommended approval and staff highlighted planned maintenance schedules for each piece. Council approved all three resolutions unanimously.
