Los Alamitos honors Pop Warner team, Sir Speedy and outgoing mayor at Dec. 16 meeting

At its Dec. 16 meeting, the Los Alamitos City Council took time to recognize community accomplishments and long-serving local businesses.
Council presented certificates to the Los Alamitos Pop Warner 12U Red team for an "impressive season." Coach Aaron Sacedo described the team as a "brand new team" whose players and volunteer coaches achieved a championship-game appearance in their first season together and thanked families and staff for their support.
The council also named Sir Speedy — represented by Alan, Laurie and Sean McClain — as a legacy business in recognition of 25-plus years of continuous service to the community. City leaders noted the McClean family’s presence at city and nonprofit events and described the business as a pillar of the community.
Finally, representatives from the offices of state lawmakers and the Los Alamitos School District presented commendations to outgoing Mayor Jordan Nafolda for his service; Marla Stevenson, vice president of the Los Alamitos Board of Education, praised the mayor for strengthening city–district collaboration and noted his background in law and business.
These recognitions occurred at the start of the evening in lieu of the originally scheduled agenda order and preceded the formal business that followed.
