City manager presents revised goals and objectives; council gives direction

- Economic development: business attraction, infrastructure improvements and workforce development partnerships. - First responders/public safety: investment in equipment, recruitment/retention and community preparedness programming (CERT/CPR). - Infrastructure: capital planning, utilities upgrades and smart-growth initiatives. - Environment and parks: increased green space, urban forestry and waste-reduction outreach. - Transparency and fiscal responsibility: data-driven reporting, improved public communication and a new city podcast initiative. - Citizen involvement: annual town halls, "coffees with the mayor and council" and expanded board/committee outreach.
Council feedback and next steps: Councilors asked clarifying questions about implementation (who will run workforce programs, how low-density objectives interact with zoning), suggested consolidating overlapping objectives (parks/green space) and recommended that staff tie the adopted goals to the upcoming comprehensive master plan. Dr. Caldera said staff will prepare a resolution for adoption, post the goals online and incorporate the objectives into future presentations.
