Beyond the major agenda items, the Johnston City Council approved the consent agenda and claims totaling $17,265,003 and received several staff updates.
City Administrator Mike highlighted S&P Global’s reaffirmation of the city’s AA+ rating and thanked staff members who prepared materials for the rating review. Staff also reported the city has surpassed $1,000,000 in proceeds from GovDeals auctions over the last 11 years; proceeds are returned to the capital equipment fund.
Staff announced a public meeting regarding Merle Hay/NW 60th projects scheduled for June 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Chief Clark said the department will hold a swearing-in and awards ceremony the next day at Station 38, noting recent hires and promotions; staff also reported the selection of a new fire chief and that an offer has been preliminarily accepted pending a written agreement.
The council closed the meeting after brief council comments about neighborhood stormwater work and recognition of staff efforts.
