Separately, council voted to add and approve a financial participation agreement with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in the amount of $245,680 to complete the Morrison Drive median safety project. A council member said the funding agreement had been signed by DOT and needed mayoral signature to avoid a weeks-long delay; the council approved the amendment and then the added item, citing public safety and project completion timelines.
The council recorded voice votes for both amendments and approvals. Officials said the stormwater manual update responds to the city’s growing stormwater needs in an era of rising sea levels; the SCDOT agreement will allow the city to finish a median safety project nearing completion.
