Gordon Clay focused on suicide prevention: he said Brookings recorded 11 suicides last year (the number he cited and a per‑100,000 comparison), described changes to specialty routing of the 988 line and urged the city and school district to promote the 741741 crisis‑text service, which he said uses AI to better interpret texters' emoji and escalate high‑risk conversations to active rescues.
Council members thanked the speakers, asked staff to publicize volunteer and resource information, and acknowledged the community and school outreach work needed to expand awareness of crisis resources.
