Bremen CHSD 228 superintendent praises community partners, honors volunteer who connects students with employers

Superintendent Dr. Sikora opened the board’s reports by thanking community partners and announcing that the Cook County Department of Transportation is conducting a Pulaski Road Corridor study and praised Bremen CHSD 228 for hosting and supporting the effort. He also read a resident’s emailed praise of the district newsletter, which the resident said “set the tone for the uplifting news to come” and praised Bremen’s responsiveness to students’ evolving needs.
Dr. Sikora invited Renee Mack and Michael (Mike) Gonzales of OAI to the podium to recognize Mack’s work connecting students with employers. Gonzales, who identified himself as program director at OAI in Park Forest, Illinois, described Southworks as “a program that takes high school students and connects them with manufacturing industry and ideas and connections that will help them in the future,” and said the organization presented Mack with an impact award for her efforts building employer–student relationships.
The superintendent said the district is happy to host community partners and to provide space and support for collaborative projects such as the Pulaski Road Corridor study. Board members and staff thanked Mack for her behind-the-scenes work linking students to internships and employment opportunities.
The board’s recognition segment concluded with praise for community volunteers and a pledge to continue supporting partnerships that provide students with career-related opportunities.
