The committee chair summarized topics covered at the Feb. 11 meeting: onboarding of new trustees, alignment of curriculum resources and review schedules, summer-school programming and extended-day services, bond-related furniture/fixtures/equipment work and move management at elementary schools, and work on assessment tools such as i‑Ready. The chair said the committee will examine I‑Ready and other student performance data as part of adoption reviews and signaled that the district will continue planning for an appropriate role for AI in instruction.
Trustees asked for a consolidated list of current curricula and review timelines. District staff said a preliminary resource list exists and will be finalized with the director of curriculum; they explained adoption cycles vary by subject (some on 7–10 year rotations) and described the district’s pilot process — multi-year pilots followed by stakeholder feedback (teachers, administrators, families) and assessment comparisons. The administration said student achievement data (FastBridge, iReady) and teacher feedback from math labs and building walkthroughs are the principal inputs during pilots.
The superintendent and trustees highlighted a March 15 parent workshop at the high school on technology and cell-phone use, and the superintendent noted state-level attention to high‑school cell‑phone policy. Trustees asked that committee reports include stakeholder feedback summaries when curriculum adoptions are imminent; the committee chair identified April reporting on Bridges/math updates and said that subsequent curriculum reviews (for reading and other subjects) will follow as appropriate.
No procurement or adoption decisions were made on Feb. 24; trustees directed the committee and administration to provide clearer, written schedules and stakeholder-feedback summaries ahead of any future adoption vote.
