“We have moved into implementation with the creation of our four strategic goal area task forces,” Hammock said, naming leads for each area and saying committees will meet in September, November, January, March and May. He said the district is partnering with Education Elements to administer a fall and spring survey that will measure implementation progress and support reporting required by the Lilly Endowment.
Hammock also told the board about new statutory requirements tied to Senate Enrolled Act 442 and presented the 'I Decide for Me' curriculum for the board’s approval. The board moved and approved the curriculum and was told the curriculum will be posted on the district website as required pending board action.
Dr. Hammock introduced Todd McIntyre and Liz Slager from K12 Virtual Schools, the district’s new partner for virtual programming. The board moved to approve the student handbook, attendance policy and enrollment policy for the Indiana Digital Learning School; the motions were seconded and carried by voice vote.
Board members were updated on the timeline for future strategic-plan reports and asked to contact the superintendent with questions before the next scheduled update in December.
