Board begins superintendent evaluation and plans October board development session
Summary

Board members discussed the superintendent evaluation process and board development activities. District staff said the process has begun with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB): the superintendent completed a self-evaluation, and NASB distributed the evaluation form to board members via district email that will include radio-button ratings and optional comment fields.
Mr. Alexander said NASB will tally results and provide a summary to the superintendent; one board member noted that the superintendent’s evaluation is the only employee evaluation conducted in an open session summary format. Board members were asked to watch for the evaluation email in their BPS accounts and to provide ratings and comments where appropriate.
Separately, board members recounted attendance at a recent area membership meeting and proposed an October committee-of-the-whole evening that would start with a working supper and include facilitated conversation about core values, missions and goals. The board said NASB will help prepare questions and topics for that session to spur discussion and board cohesion.
No formal board action was taken on evaluation outcomes at this meeting; the process and the October development session were presented as upcoming steps for board participation.
