Bullhead City board approves Chartwells amendment, budget revision and several funding decisions

Contract: The board approved an amended second‑year contract with Chartwells for food service in 2025–26. Administration said Chartwells revised its student number estimate to 2,180; the board was told there is no penalty if the district’s enrollment falls below that number for the contract year.
Budget revision: Administrators presented the mandatory final revision for fiscal year 2024–25, noting the State Department of Education provided an updated BSA 50‑51 earlier than usual. The board adopted the final revision by motion.
Classroom Site Fund and supplemental pay: The board approved the Classroom Site Fund plan (current year funding noted at $792 per student and a proposed increase to $842 next year). Separately, the board approved adding certificated student support services personnel (counselors, speech therapists, OTs — about 11 positions) to a parallel supplemental pay structure: proposed amounts are up to $2,000 for proficient/distinguished evaluations and $1,000 for those who meet an improvement plan.
Title I staffing and custodial position: The board approved use of Title I funds for one additional paraprofessional at Desert Valley and one at Sunrise. The board also approved adding a night custodian at Desert Valley to address higher room counts and workload; administration confirmed funding availability.
Insurance and administrative forms: Trustees approved the district’s Trust Proposal Acceptance Form (noting a projected drop in trust costs from approximately $381,000 to $367,000), the Alliance Coverage Acceptance Form (workers’ comp), and a list of trust‑approved hearing officers.
Board members moved and seconded each item and approved them by voice vote; motions were recorded as passed by those present.
