Board approves budget amendments covering Pye Center programs and capital project true-ups

The Bradley County Board of Education approved several budget amendments at its Aug. 14 meeting, covering special revenue, general fund and capital-project adjustments.
Ellen Smith presented a special revenue amendment for Fund 145 (Pye Center operations) that covers fee-based student programs and donations for CTE, esports, mechatronics, machining, welding and medium/heavy truck programming. The board moved and seconded the amendment and adopted it by roll call.
Staff also presented a package of general fund adjustments that roll year-end reserves into budgets for safety, CTE, technology and the Bradley Central baseball field house, along with grant-related adjustments for voluntary pre-K and special-education preschool programs. The board took the group of general-fund amendments as a packet and approved them by roll call.
Finally, the board approved a capital projects amendment (Fund 177) to true up accounts for Okoye Middle, moving expenses into the current year to finish the project. Board members voted to approve the capital amendment by roll call.
Board members said the votes were routine year-end cleanups and grant-related adjustments to ensure accounts matched expenditures and commitments.
