The Bullhead City School District board recorded several formal actions during its August meeting, including approval of a corrected consent agenda item, a personnel-related vote after executive session and adoption of governance items.
Consent agenda: Board members pulled item 3.4 (addendum to district committees, club sponsors, coaching and leadership stipends) for discussion. A board member asked that sponsor stipends be equalized so each school’s sponsor receives the same payment; staff agreed to raise lower stipends rather than reduce any school’s stipend. After amendment, a motion to accept the consent agenda with the correction passed by roll call.
Whistleblower complaint: The board convened in executive session for legal consultation under Arizona law, then reconvened in public and moved to "accept the report of investigator Gordon Lewis and to deny and dismiss the whistleblower complaint filed by former employee Lillian Salcedo," a motion that was seconded and carried by recorded vote.
ASBA political agenda: A board member who participated on the delegate committee described the Arizona School Boards Association draft 2026 political agenda and moved to accept the draft; the motion included direction that the district delegate would vote at the ASBA meeting in September consistent with the board discussion. The motion passed.
Superintendent goals: Following a second executive session to discuss superintendent performance goals under ARS 38‑431.03(1), the board voted to establish the superintendent's performance goals for fiscal year 2025–26 as presented.
All votes referenced above were recorded by roll call in the meeting record.
