The presenter said screeners through eighth grade revealed phonics weaknesses and that district staff will create an additional quarterly test (the district requested four quarter tests; the vendor provides three) by pulling items from the vendor's test bank so quarterly tests align to standards taught that quarter.
On staffing, two international teachers arrived and will be on campus the following day; other international hires and H‑1B candidates are delayed by legal processing and were expected in greater numbers later in the fall (some possibly by October 1; H‑1B timing could extend to November 1). The presenter said the district is covering vacancies with classroom rearrangements, teachers covering during prep periods, and temporary assignments until hires arrive.
Board members asked for continued enrollment tracking after Labor Day and for ongoing reports on assessment data and staffing progress.
