Avery County commissioners adopted a resolution on Sept. 9 to certify the county’s local match and support an FY2027 Community Transportation Program grant application for Avery County Transportation (ACT).
ACT staff outlined mission and values, then described the two-part request: an administrative grant (~$163,060) to cover staffing and an equipment/capital request (~$163,650) for safety and facility items. ACT said the total amount requested across both grants is $326,710 and that the county's local share certification—$40,824—would be required to complete the application. Staff requested the board adopt the resolution to approve the local match and authorize submission.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will finalize the application for submission to the NCDOT/FTA IMD funding programs and proceed with procurement if awards are received.
