Commission approves payment for Atchison Sports Complex batting-cage slab

At their Sept. 30 meeting, Atchison County commissioners approved a payment request tied to the Atchison Sports Complex batting-cage concrete pad.
Finance Director Mark Seltner reported the request from the Atchison Recreation organization for the second half of the batting-cage slab and identified amounts previously paid and the remaining balance tied to the 2025 third supplemental bond. The motion to approve payment to S and M Construction in the amount of $15,731.02 was moved, seconded and passed 2 to 0.
Seltner said that, after this payment, approximately $8,009.26 would remain of the $400,000 allocation for the related program and that any further funding needs would require a separate conversation with the commission.
