Staff presented invoices and payroll for approval, identifying process number 38 for $1,324.80 and process number 39 for $797,257.71; Commissioner Gillespie moved to approve the bills and payroll, Commissioner Pavelic seconded, and the court approved the motion.
The court announced the next commissioners' court meeting is set for Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, and recessed the session to reconvene at 9:45 a.m. for a budget hearing to allow the county auditor time to complete work.
During commissioners' comments the presiding commissioner advised the court that new state legislation changes the public posting requirement to three working days prior to a meeting (no longer a 72-hour clock), saying the shorter internal window will make it harder to prepare materials and could force more frequent meetings. The presiding commissioner told colleagues the internal cutoff to get items on the agenda will be noon on the Tuesday before the Monday meeting.
