Board members moved and approved second readings of the following policies: BE (annual review procedures related to open enrollment and school board meetings), ECABB (rules governing multi‑occupancy moves), JEA (changes to compulsory attendance age), ACE and ACE‑E (timelines to ensure compliance with IEP and Section 504 plans for children of active duty military members within 30 calendar days), KLB (procedures for curriculum material complaints and the right to appeal to circuit court), and FD (facilities funding and timing of related elections).
Each policy was presented as conforming to new statutory requirements; board members asked few substantive questions and approved each item by voice vote. One board member noted the ACE/ACE‑E language reflects current district practice for military families, and a district staff member confirmed that practice.
The policies were presented as second readings following discussion at the previous meeting; the board approved them to align district rules with state law ahead of the July 1 effective date.
The board’s action brings district policy into compliance with the state’s timetable; the district’s administration will implement updated procedures and notify schools of any changes needed for enrollment, attendance and complaint processes.
