District administration presented a draft of five district goals aimed at guiding the coming years and asked trustees for feedback. The most prominent target is a five‑year goal to reach 80% proficiency in English language arts and mathematics for grades K–8. Administration said the goal will be supported by annual and midyear reporting using local assessments such as iReady and by a September presentation of state assessment results.
Trustees raised concerns that the five‑year goal is broad and requested clearer interim measures and more specificity on family engagement strategies they said will be necessary to meet the benchmark. One trustee asked for more frequent updates than a single July report; administration proposed using July annual reports and a September review of state assessments as complementary check‑ins, with a midyear review in December to report early progress.
Administration also noted the need to reassess some programs and supports (academic, social and emotional) that have been adopted over the past five years and suggested some could be continued, revised or discontinued depending on evaluation outcomes. Board members agreed to continue refining the goals and to receive additional drafts before a possible vote later in the fall.
