Student life presentation highlights GovConnect platform and growing campus engagement

Ashley Kountz, director of Student Life & Engagement at Austin Peay State University, gave a campus spotlight presenting the office's programs, traditions and a new engagement platform.
Kountz said the department comprises six staff members and oversees Greek life, student organizations, leadership programming and campus traditions such as family weekend, Mud Bowl and homecoming. She reported 419 students currently participate in Greek life (a 9% increase from spring 2024), that the office chartered 25 new student organizations for the 2024–25 academic year, and that the department hosted or co‑hosted 210 programs with more than 20,000 attendees.
On tracking participation, Kountz introduced GovConnect: "GovConnect combines 2 existing platforms, P Link and P Mobile, to a single user friendly system," she said, adding that the platform will enable a badging system to recognize student involvement and provide improved data to assess program effectiveness.
Board members asked operational questions about GovConnect (app vs. web platform); Kountz confirmed it will be available as both an app and a website. Trustees praised the presentation and noted that improved engagement tracking supports student retention and career preparation.
The presentation concluded with an invitation for questions and a transition to committee reports.
