Preliminary FY2025–26 figures show small general-fund shortfall; Crowley HVAC included in projections

The Acadia Parish School Board received preliminary FY2025–26 revenue and expenditure projections July 1 showing a general-fund revenue projection of $90,682,062 and projected expenditures of $91,315,018, leaving a preliminary gap of $632,956. Finance staff member Justin presented the figures and said the projection includes a $1,800,000 expenditure for the Crowley High HVAC project.
Justin told the board the district has already been billed about $500,000 that will hit the prior year’s budget, and he cautioned that the numbers could still change before formal adoption in August because invoices and outstanding bills remain. Justin described the figures as the July 1 numbers and said the board will formally adopt the budget in August.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the Crowley HVAC scope; Justin said the project includes chillers and other components though one cooling tower may not be included. The board accepted the budget review by motion and voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the public transcript.
The board will consider formal adoption of the FY2025–26 budget at a future meeting in August.
