Turf replacement: The board approved a cooperative purchase (board cooperative contract 737-24) with FieldTurf USA for synthetic turf replacement at Alvin High School’s Memorial Stadium. Staff presented an estimated expenditure of $677,490, explaining that figure includes contingency; manufacturing lead time is roughly 28 days and installation roughly three weeks, with an Aug. 1 completion target stated in the contract.
Athletic trainers: Trustees approved renewal of districtwide athletic-training services with Methodist Hospital, selected from three requests for qualifications; staff said Methodist has a 12-year record of providing trainers to the district.
All three motions were moved, seconded and approved in the meeting. Trustees asked about reuse of removed turf and start dates; staff said removed turf is usually kept for repurposing and described manufacturing/installation timelines.
