Mark Jackson, principal at Stantec, walked trustees through the site plan and a one-way parent drop-off and bus loop designed to maximize stacking capacity, explained that drainage detention will be off-site, and described the general program layout—gym, cafeteria, music and art on one side; academics and a central library on the other.
Jackson said the project is currently in the construction-document phase, that the district will put the work out to bid in summer, and that the team expects about 17 months of construction with a target move-in in 2027. He also answered trustee questions about natural lighting and window placement in the gym, confirming elevated windows (about 12-foot sills) and use of windows over older ‘solatube’ approaches where appropriate.
Trustees asked for clarity on schedule padding and safety details; Jackson said the timeline includes additional time to avoid rushed move-ins and noted weather remains a contingency for outdoor work. The board received the schematic presentation and engaged in Q&A; no formal vote was required at this meeting.
