Alvin ISD Education Foundation presents $529,599.52 to district; executive director honored

The Alvin Independent School District Education Foundation presented a check of $529,599.52 to the district on the evening the board met, and trustees publicly recognized the foundation and its executive director for fundraising and community support.

The foundation's new executive director (recorded in the meeting as Brandy Growth) told the board the group raised more money than ever at its annual gala and saw a large increase in participation at its turtle-race fundraiser, reporting "over 800 runners, including a 150 from the previous year." She said the foundation had strengthened partnerships with district Career and Technical Education programs, pursued grant opportunities and was awarded every grant it applied for this year. "It is a great honor to present the 2024–25 donations to Alvin ISD in the amount of $529,599.52," she said.

Superintendent Nelson and trustees thanked the foundation for its role delivering aid after the tornado at Walt Disney Elementary and for coordinating donations so they could reach affected staff and families quickly. The board presented a certificate of recognition to the foundation executive director in acknowledgment of the emergency recovery work and the year’s fundraising results.

The presentation highlighted the foundation’s role in supplementing district programs, supporting CTE initiatives and responding to emergencies; leaders said funds and sponsorships will continue to be directed to campus-level needs, scholarships and extracurricular support. The board did not take a separate vote on allocating the donation during the meeting; staff and the foundation will continue to coordinate distribution and reporting.
