"My name is Tanya Jabbar, and I was an Alvin ISD kindergarten teacher for the 02/2223 school year at Wilder Elementary," Jabbar told trustees. She said her students showed "amazing academic growth" and that her T‑TESS evaluation reflected strong performance. Jabbar described a grievance hearing and said the hearing officers were Fulvia Shaw and Nancy Hoskins after an initial appraiser recused herself.
Jabbar said she later interviewed for an ELA/coaching position at Ronald McNair Junior High on April 28 and was offered the role by Miss Hicks the same day; "approximately a week later, Miss Hicks rescinded the offer," she said. She recounted multiple subsequent applications and interviews she said were not successful and said she was told by "reliable sources" that human resources staff and a campus leader had instructed principals not to hire her. Jabbar characterized her current situation as retaliation and asked the board to "investigate, rectify so that I can have gainful employment in Alvin ISD."
Board President ended Jabbar's allotted public‑comment time when the three minutes expired; no trustees announced a motion or vote related to her request during the meeting. The public record provided at the meeting did not include a direct staff response on the record to Jabbar's allegations.
The comment was placed during the meeting's open forum; under board policy the trustees noted they cannot take immediate action during the public comment period but may refer items to the superintendent for review.
