Albany school board elects officers, swears in new member Austin Wolfgang

Dr. Sridhar Chatur was elected president of the Albany City School District Board of Education at the board’s reorganizational meeting and was sworn into office before taking the chair.
Board member Mann nominated Chatur and the board voted; the outcome was reported as unanimous with one abstention. Chatur recited the oath of office and then presided over the meeting.
Tabitha Wilson was nominated and sworn in as vice president, and Ellen Krejci accepted nomination and recited the oath as board secretary. Earlier in the meeting Paul Loy served as chair pro tem to open the session and guide the reorganization votes.
The board also administered the oath of office to newly elected member Austin Wolfgang. Wolfgang, 23, thanked family and campaign supporters and said he will rely on both community input and his experiences as a former student in the district as he begins his term. "I'm so excited to get the opportunity to make our schools a better place," Wolfgang said.
President Chatur and other members emphasized continuity and a focus on student outcomes as the board begins the 2025–26 school year. The board adopted routine administrative appointments and authorizations by unanimous consent during the meeting and set committee meeting dates for the coming weeks.
