Board approves consent agenda, budget revision and a slate of routine items 5–0

The Apache Junction Unified School District governing board approved a set of action items, recorded as unanimous votes (5–0) on each item.

At the action portion of the meeting the board approved the FY2025 budget revision as presented (motion recorded and passed 5–0). The board also approved a resolution to authorize a funding agreement between Copper Mining LLC and the Early Learning Center; the motion passed 5–0.

Board members approved two out-of-state student travel requests for Apache Junction High School students — one for the student council to attend a Disney program and another for choir and drama students to attend a music theater workshop in Anaheim — and staff confirmed both trips will be paid from student funds; each motion carried 5–0.

The board approved the principals and assistant principals performance pay plan for the 2024–25 school year. Presenters said the plan is tied to letter-grade performance, parent-reading measures and principal evaluations; paid amounts align with the amounts teachers could earn in the referenced schedule. The board also approved second-reading policy revisions regarding graduation, transfer credits and protections for foster-care students.

The board moved into executive session under ARS 38‑431.03(A)(1) to discuss the superintendent evaluation and, after returning to open session, voted to approve the superintendent evaluation as stated in executive session. The motion to convene executive session and the motion to approve the evaluation were both recorded 5–0.
