Randolph County Schools board approves SRO contracts, meal prices, signage, trip and personnel actions

The Randolph County Schools board voted to approve several routine items at its Aug. 7 meeting, including contracts for school resource officers, updated meal prices for employees and guests, a school-zone signage resolution for State Highway 48, an out-of-state varsity cheer trip and routine personnel actions.

The board approved contracts among the Randolph County Commission, the Town of Wedowie, the Town of Wadley and Randolph County Schools for school resource officers for the 2025–2026 school year. The superintendent recommended the agreement; a motion to approve was made and seconded, and members voted in favor.

The board set paid meal prices for employees and visitors for the 2025–2026 school year: employee lunch $5.05, guest lunch $5.25; employee breakfast $3.25, guest breakfast $3.50. The superintendent presented the recommendation; the motion passed with an affirmative vote.

The board approved a resolution to install solar flashing school-zone signage on State Highway 48 at Randolph County High School after the State Department of Transportation presented paperwork and a plan. The board will purchase one sign while DOT will fund the remainder, according to materials submitted with the resolution.

The board approved an out-of-state field trip for approximately 10 Randolph County High School varsity cheerleaders to LaGrange, Georgia, with Jessica Farrah listed in the agenda materials. The superintendent recommended the trip and the motion passed.

The board accepted the personnel action sheet as presented by the superintendent; the motion was moved, seconded and approved.

Each of the items above was presented as a recommendation from the superintendent and approved by unanimous voice vote during the meeting. No roll-call tallies with individual member names were recorded in the transcript; votes were recorded verbally as 'aye' and the chair stated that the motion carried.
