The presentation said the state‑funded portion of the district’s funding was $27,000,000 and described a roughly $16,000,000 difference between that state amount and the district’s cited expenditures. Mariah Bannes, the district’s executive director of finance, told the board there had been no significant changes to the package since the first public hearing.
Why it matters: Adopting appropriations sets spending authority and helps the district finalize operational plans before the school year. Director Mullings praised the presentation and the district’s shift toward equity‑based budgeting, saying it will “drive more supports to our buildings that need it the most.”
Board members asked for no additional revisions and voted by voice to approve the resolution after confirming public comment had been heard and that staff were available for follow‑up questions. The board chair announced the ayes had it and the resolution was adopted.
The district will use the adopted appropriations to move into the new school year and to finalize related operational plans; staff remain available to answer detailed questions about line items and the four‑year outlook shared during the hearing.
