Board to preview change to employee leave policy, vote slated for next meeting

The Enterprise City Board of Education on July 31 previewed a proposed revision to board policy section 5.10 (Employee leave) and agreed to take a final vote at its next scheduled meeting.

Dr. Thomas, identified in the transcript as leading the presentation, said, "It is my recommendation that you preview the board policy change proposal as presented and vote on it at the next board meeting." He described the change as intended to reflect the recently improved state paid-leave law.

Board discussion focused on who would approve extended leaves under the revised language. Board members moved and seconded to preview the policy change and approved that procedural step by voice/raise-of-hand. No final policy vote was taken; Dr. Thomas recommended the board vote on the change at the next meeting.

The board directed that the proposal be placed on the agenda for a final vote at the next meeting, allowing members time to review language and ask staffing or privacy questions ahead of that vote.
