The California Community Colleges Board of Governors convened May 20, 2025, and heard staff explain how to access the meeting agenda and participate in public comment before adjourning into a closed session expected to last about 45 minutes.
Andrea, a board staff member, told attendees how to find the agenda on the system website: "To access today's agenda, please visit our website at www.ccco.edu," and walked through steps (About Us → Board of Governors → Meeting schedule, minutes and agenda) and the procedures for in-person and virtual public comment. She said in-person attendees may complete a written comment card at the board liaison table and virtual attendees should use the streaming platform's raise-hand feature; speakers will be called in the order cards or requests are received.
The board took roll and confirmed a quorum before Member Casey Chang led the pledge of allegiance. Board member Villavicencio took a personal point of privilege to welcome visiting students from San Joaquin Delta College, noting that several graduates are transferring to UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Sacramento State and UC San Diego and that one student had been admitted to Amherst College. "They are wonderful, amazing students who will be change makers in their own right," Member Villavicencio said.
President Hildegard B. Aguinaldo closed the public portion of the opening by announcing the meeting would recess into a closed session. "We expect to be out for approximately 45 minutes," Aguinaldo said. The board did not take any public votes in the portion of the meeting recorded in the transcript; the session was recessed for the closed executive-session business and is scheduled to resume after the indicated interval.
The meeting materials, including the agenda and any supplemental documents, were made available on the California Community Colleges website; instructions shared at the meeting advise members of the public to consult that online resource for agenda-item details and the schedule for public comment.
