Public Works Director Rick Lance told the council the lodge construction contingency has been exhausted and introduced a change order covering two items: a monument sign and extended rental of a temporary HVAC unit because the ordered permanent unit was delayed to Oct. 6. Lance said the items total about $65,394.70 and are roughly split between sign and rental costs; additional charges include generator rental and hookup to support the temporary system (SEG 1307–1411).
Council asked whether parts and future repairs for the permanent unit might be difficult to source, and whether purchasing a new unit would be more cost‑effective than continued rentals. Staff said a new comparable permanent unit could approach ~$100,000 and that they will pursue options with the GC, mechanical consultant and manufacturer; rental extension would be handled as a small change order within the city administrator’s authority if needed.
Councilor moved to accept the change order reimbursing Key Construction for rental, installation, fuel and adding the monument sign in the amount of $65,394.70. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote 6–0. Staff will continue to pursue manufacturer and supplier options and report back if the delivery schedule changes or additional costs accumulate.
